Conficker = Spyware Protect 2009!

That's right! If you're seeing pop up's for Spyware Protect 2009 then it's highly likely that you have been infected with the infamous Conficker virus. In April 2009 it started showing up as part for the Conficker virus infection. It is configured to start as soon as the computer boots and in all reality it does look much like a legitimate program.

Spyware Protect 2009 is actually a rougue anti-malware program that uses fake security alerts and fake scan results to scare consumers in to "purchasing" it. Once your credit card informaiton is entered, it is then sent to hackers who can use it unscrupulously. Just as with Antivirus XP/Vista/2008/2009 and Antivirus 360"purchasing" it does nothing to protect your computer as all of the scan results are fake. It wil say you have hundreds of thousands of infections when in fact the only infection is the malware itself.

When this program is running you will also see a variety of security alerts on your computer. These alerts consist of ones stating that a remote host is attacking your computer, that you have a variety of infections, or that Windows has detected your computer is infected and that you should purchase Spyware Protect 2009.
