Windows XP Support Is Available At A Price

All you Windows XP users out there get your bank cards ready! Microsoft has finally stopped free technical support for the eight year old operating system Windows XP. It seems that they perceive no longer offering free support for the last good OS they released will be a money maker for them.

Microsoft is now charging for "per incident" XP technical support. We are currently working to find out what the exact cost for that support will be and will update this blog as soon as we are able to find out.

With the market for low cost computers heating up, and Linux rearing it's head again, Microsoft has decided to continue with direct OEM sales of XP Home for Ultra Low Cost Personal Computers (ULCPCs) so that they can preinstall Windows on these devices through the later of June 30, 2010 or one year after the general availability of the next version of the Windows operating system. It was announced that the extended XP support until 2014 but only for consumers willing to pay. non-security related updates will only be released to members of their premier program but security patches will be available to all customers until at no charge.

For free technical support, consumers that purchase a pre-fabricated PC with XP will want to contact the manufacturer if they experience any problems.
